Architecture for Humanity Vancouver presents the LivingDensity Exhibition & Forum, an exploration on how humanity, sociability and density may be achieved through innovations in the interlinked disciplines of architecture, urban planning, industrial design and communication design.
LivingDensity is a response to the City of Vancouver’s EcoDensity Charter, a commitment to make environmental sustainability, housing affordability and livability a primary goal in all city planning decisions. LivingDensity seeks to address how urban densification can promote better communities, sustainability, as well as culturally stimulating experiences.
The exhibition and forum will be held at Grace Gallery and is the second event hosted by Architecture for Humanity Vancouver, a registered not-for-profit society promoting architectural and design solutions to local, social and environmental issues. Through design/build projects, competitions, workshops, educational forums, partnerships with related organizations, AFH Vancouver strives to create opportunities for local architects and designers to improve the quality of living through design, and to help communities in need.
The forum is a one-day event taking place Saturday, May 9th. The presenters represent a variety of disciplines from architects to urban planners and industrial designers to academics. They will address a variety of issues on urban densification and sustainable design in Vancouver.
In addition, in collaboration with the AIBC, IDSwest, and sponsored by Azure magazine; AFH Vancouver will be launching an international competition, Prefab 20/20.
